Northern Michigan family photographer

This is the second year that I have photographed this beautiful family. Last year they rented a cottage closer to Traverse City. This time they are on beautiful Walloon Lake near Bay Harbor and Petoskey, Michigan. Walloon Lake family Photography Paul Retherford Photographer captures family photo sessions all over Northern Michigan.

Family photo sessions are really challenging since everyone wants to have them in the middle of the day. The light is not perfect but I have to find a way to light everyone while still showing the beautiful backgrounds that they are enjoying.

Walloon Lake is a year-round all sports lake. You can access Walloon Lake at a few launches and public parks. In addition, there is a downtown area with a public beach for swimming.

This is the case with this session on gorgeous Walloon Lake. Walloon Lake has this turquoise blue look similar to the Caribbean. The reason for the color is that the lake is a sandy bottom, cold, and deep. All of this taken together make for the incredible views over Walloon Lake, Michigan.
