Winter in Petoskey, Michigan

The Petoskey winter is a special time of year in Northern Michigan.

Some people are afraid of winter.  I am guessing it is either from not experiencing our beautiful winters, or experiencing too many.

My feeling is that you just need to dress for the weather and enjoy.

You typically have most areas in Petoskey all to yourself in the winter months.

Yesterday had some really wet snow that was absolutely gorgeous on the trees.

I walked through the Winter Sports Park across from our house.

I grabbed a camera, put on my snow pants, boots, and coat and headed into the white abyss.

Here are a few images from the five minutes that I stomped through the forest.

All images were photographed with my Canon gear including my Canon 1Dx camera and 16-35 lens.  Everything was downloaded and edited in Adobe Lightroom.

What I love about the images is shapes, lines, and textures.

It was heavenly and so inviting.  The quiet solitude of winter can not be beaten!
