Everything doesn’t always go as you dream on your wedding day. If you just tell yourself to roll with the punches and enjoy your day then your wedding day will be perfect.
Kelly and Derek experienced this first hand when their wedding day was an all out down pour. It didn’t just rain, is was border line torrential.
They both took it in stride and I, and my gear, just got wet. That is one HUGE reason I am a member of Canon Professional Services (CPS). If my gear took a hit, I would send it in and get it back before the next weekend’s wedding! I am never afraid to push the limits with my gear with CPS backing. You will never see me shy away from the rain. I’ll just get wet, and like it.
Rainy days can be some of the coolest images out there. If you just get over the fact that there is water falling from the sky then you can make wonderful reflection images, images with drama, beautiful black and white images, and wonderful images that pop with a bit of color from the flowers. You have to be all in and enjoy the fact that you are lucky enough to have a rainy wedding day.
The wedding was located in Frankfort, Michigan at St. Ann Catholic Church. The wedding reception was located at the Elberta Life Saving Station on Lake Betsie. In between the wedding ceremony and reception we traveled to the family home on Crystal Lake and captured a few images there and on the beach. There was a festival going on in Frankfort but it was pretty much shut down because of the rain. We used their tents to hide under and capture some beautiful images. We also catapulted some pumpkins in Lake Betsie with the pumpkin chunkin machine that was set up! The groomsmen loved this!
