Northern Michigan destination weddings

Last evening at Castle Farms in Charlevoix, Michigan Kris Rundblad from MerryMakers had a workshop on “The Impact of Weddings and Events in Northern Michigan.”

Kris spoke about the amount of money that each event brings to local businesses.   She mentioned that all business is somehow connected to the wedding industry.

One of the handouts included a per guest investment for a wedding.  Kris estimated a guest to spend $328 on a three day trip to Northern Michigan.  If you have 100 guests then the impact outside of the wedding could be $32,800!  Multiple that by how ever many weddings are in the area and you have a huge impact on local business.

Kris listed a couple of her past weddings and the vendors associated with each event.  Vendors included businesses that you might not think of being related to weddings like electricians, builders, caretakers, bike shops, hardware stores, and much more.

The take away for the evening was to find your place in the Northern Michigan wedding industry.  Network with local professionals so that you can work together when the wedding season begins.
