Southwest Michigan wedding photography

The Southwest shoreline of Michigan along Lake Michigan is a popular wedding destination because of the proximity to Chicago, Grand Rapids, and even Detroit. You really can’t go wrong getting married where Lake Michigan is within reach for wedding images. The dunes along the coast of Lake Michigan are like no other locations in the world.

Even though the wedding images are usually during the harshest light times of the day, they still turn out beautiful. If you are lucky enough to talk your bride and groom into some evening light around Lake Michigan the images can be magical!

Whitney and Josh fell in love with The Veranda at The Whitcomb because of the outdoor feeling but covered location that allows for some heat during this fall wedding. The Whitcomb is a historic hotel in downtown St. Joseph, Michigan and has a nice amount of rooms for your guests. The Boulevard Inn lies a block away and it has very nice rooms for your guests too. All this is in walking distance to the beach, Lake Michigan, and the carousel on the beach.

The bride and groom elected to not see each other prior to the wedding ceremony. We captured groomsmen and bridesmaid images and lots of detail images prior to the wedding. Following the wedding we had group images in the church and on the front steps at St. John’s church. Fantasy Limousine was waiting for the wedding party and we stopped at the lighthouse on Lake Michigan and the Carousel on the beach for images. Then it was off to the Veranda at The Whitcomb for the celebration.

The wedding theme for the day was wine. Their wedding colors were eggplant and gold. The bride’s wedding dress was Avine Perucci for St. Pucchi. The bridesmaids wore Amsale.
