Kalamazoo, Michigan Wedding Photography and Parchment Wedding Photographer
What a beautiful wedding couple this past weekend! My weekend began with my trip down state on Friday from my northern Michigan house to my southern Michigan house that I am selling.
I spend Friday cutting the lawn, weeding and getting the house in shape for the Sunday open house.
Saturday was an ugly morning in the area, lots of rain and thunder. Not looking good for my outdoor wedding in Parchment, Michigan at the Kindleberger Park. I always kept positive energy and I know that the sun will shine on me. I have had VERY few ceremonies that were rained out, just the ones in the rain forests, kidding…
We began around 12:30 with prep shots and around 1ish with the guys. It was raining and they had not started setting up the site. We tucked into the gazebo at Kindleberger Park and did some images. Here are some examples of the groomsmen shots…
We spent some time watching the radar on the laptop computer in the brides room. Everyone had positive energy and hoping for the sun to shine…
And then it happened…The sky broke and the bride and groom had their moment together before the ceremony, they made the choice to do this, I never make the decision to do this I leave it up to the bride and groom. Here are some beautiful images.
Jessica was basically in tears when her wedding day came true. It was hot pink, hot, sunny, and beautiful; and all that she asked and dreamed.
Wedding colors were hot pink and black. The guys looked really good in pink!
The wedding flowers were completed by Schafer’s Flowers on Stadium drive in Kalamazoo. I asked the mother of the bride about there opinion of the flowers and service and she had no comment. I thought they looked nice but the flower girls flowers died before the ceremony??? All the others held up fine.
Photography was by Paul Retherford Wedding Photography, an A-lister and the video was captured by a friend.
The ceremony was again at the Kindleberger Park in Parchment, Michigan within walking distance to The Fountains, the reception hall. Everyone got ready in the downstairs of the Parchment library right in front of the park. It worked out perfect. There are nice large rooms downstairs for prep and storing. The only negative is the lack of mirrors, bring your own. I would recommend Kindleberger Park for your outdoor ceremony in the Kalamazoo area. Beautiful flowers, sunken wedding area, retaining walls, rock, gazebo, and more. The only thing that I don’t like is the chain link fence for the tennis court right behind the gazebo.
The reception location was The Fountains in Parchment, Michigan, right outside of Kalamazoo. It is a unique reception hall with seating for up to 300ish. There were around 140 at this wedding and it was VERY comfortable. I have captured many weddings at this location and it is a top pick for me in the area for an indoor wedding reception in the Kalamazoo area. The wedding consultants/planners at The Fountains area REALLY cool and they are willing to work with anyone. Here are some reception images.
What a beautiful wedding day in Southwest Michigan for a wonderful couple and awesome family too. Oh, I forgot to mention that the groom had and identical twin, fortunately for me he was in his Navy uniform.
I also wanted to mention how great a job Kyle did as the officiant. Kyle is the brother of the groom and he did a stellar job that was different than any that I have ever heard. Kevin, the groom, loves chemistry and Kyle compared the bond of marriage, ionic and covalent bonds. Great job Kyle, one to remember!
The wedding images are almost ready online with their wedding album here.
