This morning I was working on an album and Asta started to get excited and bark.  She will growl once in a while but this time she was barking and running around the house and getting all upset.  Of course Sampson got in on the action too, so the house was an echoing blast of yelps.

Usually this will mean that there is a deer or cat or something in the yard.  Well, not quit this time.  Here is what it was moving slowly through the lawn…

Yes, a snapping turtle.  It was a bit odd because we really don’t have anywhere around that has water and this turtle had a wet back.  My father said that it is probably a female and looking for a spot to lay it’s eggs.  So, I didn’t think that it would be a good idea having a snapping turtle around two dogs so I decided to take the turtle to the promised land.  I persuaded the turtle into a bucket and ran it over to Miner Lake right by my house.  The turtle was happy to see the water and freedom from dogs that wanted to eat it.  I could just see my dogs come in with a chunk of their nose gone.

Got most of my gutters up around my house.  I decided not to go with the seemless gutters since I have landscaping surrounding my house and it is all rock, so I do not have to worry about erosion.  I put gutters just over the exits minus my walkout because I don’t have a tall enough ladder.  They are not really even visible since I don’t need a downspout.

Today I heard a pheasant in my backyard.  This past week I saw two roosters.  I hadn’t seen a pheasant for almost two years.  When we moved into this house three years ago we would seem them on a regular basis.  I threw out some corn and such to see if I can lure it into our yard.  I have a bird feeding station but I don’t think that it would come to it during the day.  The dogs would go bazurk.

I am shooting a wedding this weekend that my brother is in.  I just spoke to him today and he was picking up his tux and red bull to go with the jager.  I told him no alcohol for the groom until after the ceremony and he laughed and said that he was planning on getting the groom drunk before the ceremony.

My three year anniversary was yesterday.  Megan and I headed into Holland, Michigan and walked around for a bit.  It is the tulip festival.  What a nice day.  I could not believe all of the things going on with the festival.  There were bus loads of people and random people walking around in Dutch outfits.  We made our way to the Holland Brewing Company for a beer and a appertiser.  If you like beer, check this place out!  My wife ordered this beer that was 10% alcohol.  It was a barley wine.  She kept saying that she didn’t feel anything and then boom…
After our beer, or for Megan’s sake the three in one beer, we headed to Via Maria and ate some fantastic German food.  I had veal.  For dessert we decided to pass on their wonderful desserts, pass on coldstone, pass on ben and jerry’s, and make our way all the way back home and then to Allegan for our hometown ice cream shop, The Shiver Shack.  Now people, if you have not tried their sundaes now is the time.  Megan loves the reeses sundae and I usually mix it up.  Last night was the Hudsonville Key Lime ice cream.  The dogs get their share of the vanilla leftovers.  You should see these two giving their puppy eyes at the ice cream people.
