Best time to cut your Wedding cake dessert
Some may think that this is a simple decision, when should I cut my Wedding cake?
With over 500 Weddings photographed, I have seen most options when it comes to cutting the Wedding cake. What I suggest to my Brides and Grooms is that they cut the Wedding cake as soon as they enter the Wedding reception, before dinner.
Why? If you think about it, most traditional Weddings cut the cake after the Bride and Groom have finished their Wedding meal. Then they have to take the cake and cut it before being able to serve it. At the same time, they are clearing plates and prepping for dessert.
If you cut the cake prior to dinner, the cake cutter can cut it at anytime they have a moment during dinner. The cake will be ready to serve when the dinner plates are cleared. In addition, the Bride and Groom will be served first so that they can eat their cake, which a lot of Brides and Grooms end up not doing since they run out of time, and then the Bride and Groom can chat with their guests while they eat their cake. In this situation, there is no down time and it feels like you actually made some time during your Wedding reception.
If you are having a dessert table, pies, etc the same rules apply if you are “cutting” anything. When you cut dessert it opens the table up to everyone for dessert.
Another thing to consider is doing your first dance at the same time too. The next blog will be about doing your first dance as soon as you enter the Wedding reception.
