Engaged in Petoskey, Michigan

Someone asked me, “Aren’t all Engagements “surprise Engagements?” Well, no, not when it comes to photography. Surprise Engagements are when one of the players does not know that I am photographing what is about to happen. These images are about as real as you can get between the couples. Sean called me to chat about his “plan” for proposing to his girlfriend. They live downstate and were coming up to stay at the Stafford’s Perry Hotel for a few nights. He didn’t know the area. He had never been here.

I walked him through what I do when I photograph these sessions. We talked about a good plan and what could go wrong.

He was looking on Google maps following along as I spoke. He takes great notes which ended up making a perfect plan.

They arrived and he got his bearings in Petoskey. He plotted out the blanket location where they would have their bottle of wine in his head.

The night came for his proposal, and did it ever!!! Wow! I mean WOW!

When the sun peaked out below the clouds just as he got on his knee, it was like a movie. You couldn’t have planned it much better.

A couple walked by just after they got engaged and said, “You don’t realize how lucky you are right now. That was one of the top sunsets I have seen here.” I think so too, but I have seen ALOT of sunsets in my life.:-)
