Stoney Creek Metropark Wedding
What happens when it rains the entire Wedding day? Well, you accept your day and adapt to the weather. This is the case this October at Stoney Creek Metropark Sheldon Estates Shelby Township Michigan Wedding Photography by Paul Retherford.
This Wedding is the second I am photographing in this family. The bride has a twin sister. Furthermore, I am lucky enough to have photographed her Wedding too.
It pours. No, it downpours. It rains so hard that you get wet standing under the umbrella. The camera gear gets a good washing.:-)
Kudos to Jeanette Pierce on the gorgeous hair and makeup. English Gardens floral design is flawless too.
Plymouth jewelers provide the incredible jewelry for the bride.
The beautiful Maggie Sottero dress holds up in the rain even after being wet, muddy, and tied!
Isn’t the Bride just beaming!
The original plan is to have the Wedding ceremony at Sheldon Estates in Stoney Creek Metropark. Well, by golly, Shelby will not be denied.
It is a team effort in making this all happen.
The transportation is slower due to the weather and the umbrellas going up and down.
Groomsmen run to the local boot store and pick up rubber boots for all of the bridesmaids. This saves their shoes. The mens shoes, well, that is another story.
Music is not set up outdoors so the Wedding party decides to sing songs to make up for it.
The guests all receive ponchos for the ceremony at Sheldon Estates.
Since everything is pushed back the ceremony starts just before sundown.
Sheldon Estates Wedding ceremony in the woods
Sheldon Estates ceremony is a rustic, pine-forest ceremony venue. The stout pines all but block out light getting into the ceremony location.
The short ceremony performed by Annette is beautiful and perfect for the day.
Following the ceremony, we rush through family and Wedding party images prior to darkness.
It is an interesting, but fun, Wedding ceremony that will be remembered forever.
Wedding reception Stoney Creek Metropark tent
Following the ceremony, all the guests bus back to the reception.
The heat in the tent feels so good after being totally saturated.
My camera lenses are fogging just as I am getting ready to photograph the introductions. Thank goodness for hand warmers that help absorb the humidity.
The receptions includes introductions, toasts, cake cutting, first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, and garter/bouquet.
Everyone has a wonderful time.
Dancing and drinking go on way past my time.

Paul RetherfordI’m not sure Lisa. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
JodiHow do I find this location in Stony Creek Metropark. I am headed out there next to find this location for a senior photo shoot and am not sure how to find it in the park.
Thanks for your help!
