Wedding Speech, how to give, what to say ~ personalize
Your the best man or maid of honor and you need to give the speech at the reception. You are probably a bit nervous if you are not used to talking on the microphone. No worries, everyone expects a poor speech, so there are no high expectations. So, starting from the ground level you are have the odds on your side.
Personalize your speech and it will be the most effective. People enjoy when you use a personal twist on the best man or maid of honor speech. I have sat through hundreds, if not thousands, of speeches and the ones that I remember are the ones that make me laugh and cry, and yes I have shed a few tears from Wedding Speeches before. Of course I am behind the camera so you would never know.:-)
Here is a speech that I thought was top notch. The best man was and is a great friend to the groom and he like to write. He was probably way ahead of the game but it may give you some insight on how to approach writing a speech, oh, and by the way, how about not reading it off of the paper, notes are good, but verbatum is not.
