Wedding Elopement Grand Hotel Mackinac
Summer destination wedding elopement in Northern Michigan on Mackinac Island. It was approaching 90 degrees on Mackinac Island and the sky was bright blue for this 2pm wedding.
The bride, Carrie, and the groom, Andy, met in college at Michigan State University and they wanted to bring their parents together at a midpoint for their wedding. The bride and groom currently reside in Madison, Wisconsin.
Carrie and Andy chose the all inclusive Grand Hotel wedding package for their intimate wedding with just immediate family. Everything was done by the Grand Hotel staff including hair, makeup, flowers, ceremony, reception in main dining room, and cake. The Grand Hotel does a first class wedding and their packages give you all of the luxuries without the stress. Their wedding coordinator, Marty Haines, does a flawless job in bringing every wedding to perfection.
Carrie, Andy, and I spent a short time together during their wedding day. Andy informed me right away that he doesn’t smile in pictures. I think you will see right away that, with the help of my personality, he did smile a lot. Keeping the bride and groom comfortable on such a hot day is a tricky tactic. I find that keeping everything moving always makes for a smoother shoot.
Carrie walked with her father down the front porch of the Grand Hotel for their west porch, bridge view wedding location. It is always wonderful to capture brides walking down this massive porch and having all the onlookers capturing images with their camera phones. The massiveness off the pillars, the cathedral ceilings, and the open air make this truly a unique wedding location anywhere in the World.
All wedding vendors were from the Grand Hotel, with the exception of non-denominational Pastor Ken Straight and Paul Retherford Wedding Photography. Wedding hair completed by Astor’s Salon at the Grand Hotel and Wedding flowers by Margarets garden at the Grand Hotel.
