Wedding Photography in Northern Michigan Upper Peninsula
I met Ben on Shepler’s ferry last year where he was a Captain for some time. I was just coming from a Wedding on Mackinac Island and he invited me up to the wheelhouse to chat for the 15 minute ride back to the mainland. He shot a text to Jamie, his wife now, and she said, “that is weird, I have been looking at his work for some time.” We met in St. Ignace weeks later and they decided that I was their Photographer. I was honored to be chosen.
The Wedding location was Escanaba, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan about 3 hours from my house. It was a beautiful day, actually really hot for the UP, but beautiful. The forecasted rain was no where in site.
The Wedding Ceremony took place at a beautiful church in Escanaba, Michigan called St. Joseph/St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Following the Wedding Ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba we headed to the families private residence across Little Bay de Noc, well we took a bus around but it was only like 4 miles from the church as the crow flies. Beautiful location right on Lake Michigan with a rocky shoreline, a dock, and a personal marina. I could have captured images there all day long but we had a short time to make image while not exhausting everyone from the hot weather and blaring sun. Here are a few.
The Wedding colors for the day were Greens. It was a beautiful choice with the sunny blue skies. The girls dresses were really cute too, and they even had hidden pockets that I loved. Very unique.
The Wedding Reception was held in Gladstone, Michigan at the Terrace Bay Inn. This is a fantastic Wedding Reception location because it has overnight accommodations so you guests don’t have to drive, it is right on Lake Michigan and Little Bay de Noc so Wedding guests can enjoy the water, and the reception location is large and has a huge dance floor. There was ample room to move around in this 250ish count Wedding Reception at Terrace Bay Inn in Gladstone, Michigan.
