Petoskey Engagement Photography

You may look at these images and think, yup, they are staged.  Well, actually, they are not.  The whole idea is to get the surprise Engagement without the future Bride knowing.  What do you think was the plan? The couple was in the Petoskey, Michigan area for a vacation in the fall.  They had been dating for a little while.  An Engagement was “suspected.”

Instead of being a random photographer on the break wall in Petoskey, I am introduced as a photographer who is going to get a few images of the couple while they are in Petoskey.   She had told him that she wanted to get images near the lighthouse, so he set it up, brilliantly.

We walked out to the end of the break wall and photographed along the way.  It is beautiful out by the way!  Couldn’t have had a better fall day in Northern Michigan.

When we get to the lighthouse there is a sailboat out on the lake, the sun shimmering off of the water, no wind, no people…  Just perfect!

I ask for a portrait of just her with the lighthouse in the background.  She is posing for an image as he is trying to get the ring in the box out of his back pocket.  I take my time and then tell her to turn around.  He is on his knee and she is in shock! 🙂

It was perfect.  She didn’t expect it and they have a beautiful Engagement.

Here is a sample of the Engagement session.  This was all completed in less than 30 minutes!

Oh, she has a sailboat tattoo on her ankle so the sailboat in the lake was meant to be.
