Wedding Photography in Michigan

This past weekend was a lot of traveling for me.  My first Wedding was located in Detroit, Michigan near the downtown area.  I drove over Saturday early and arrived about two hours prior to the start of photography.  The church was beautiful and so were the bride and groom.  You can see their online images at http://www.paulretherford.instaproofs.com

I had a first at this wedding.  There was a “gentleman” who was literally thrown in the police car when I was leaving.  I don’t want to get into the specifics but it was interesting.

So, this limo that the bride and groom had in Detroit was a Ford limo with a full size truck bed on the back.  This limo held like 18 people and it still had a truck bed.  The tires were huge and it was a struggle getting the people in and out of the truck limo.   When the limo pulled in I could hear it inside the church.  It was a BIG diesel.

I left around 11pm from the saturday wedding.  I actually worked an extra hour or two for no extra charge.  I made it to the dayton, ohio area for the night and crashed at a motel.  My alarm rang early at 6am to get on the road to Indianapolis.

My wedding was actually in Cloverdale, IN.  I arrived early at the wedding and reception site.  Both were on the same grounds.  It was a beautiful day and the bride and groom were very easy to work with.  We had a great time during the day with everyone.  So many random things happened that were funny yet different.  One of them was that I was going to do ground shots with the bride and I was walking with her and then I said, “this looks like a nice spot.”   When I went to put her down on the ground a 3 foot black snake was right where we were and she screamed and ran.  It was pretty funny.  Then a guy from Mississippi went over and picked it up.  It was fun.  See there images at http://www.paulretherford.instaproofs.com

I drove like 900 miles in 36 hours.  Got to see a lot of highway and two awesome weddings.

So, I was getting my hair cut yesterday and my hair dresser is a Nascar fan.  I don’t really follow Nascar but I go to a race now and then.  I am going to the race this weekend in at the Michigan Speedway.  Anyways, I said to my hairdresser, “wouldn’t it be funny if junior was gordon’s teammate.”  And it happened!  Good stuff.  It will be interesting this weekend.

Tonight I did something new with my dogs.  I put on my rollerblades and took one dog at a time up and down the road.  They had a blast and they did awesome!  Both dogs ran right next to me.  It is like a 1/2 mile loop and they got tired out quickly.  I plan to do more rollerblading with the dogs.  Cesar, the dog whisperer, recommends doing this with active dogs.
